I was thinking today about what my most embarrassing tantrum experience has been so far as a parent. Because my second daughter is yet to hit the 'terrible twos' i'm sure i have a lot worse to come.
The most embarrassing tantrum situation i've had with my eldest daughter (now 3) was in Countdown. I made several amateur mistakes that day as you will soon read.
I just needed to pop into our local Countdown to grab a couple of things, so i thought it would be easier for my daughter (2 years old) to just walk around the supermarket instead of putting her in a trolley (Mistake #1).
The first section we approach was the fruit & veges, she proceeded to run to the bananas and try and peel one, not too bad but the tears had already started to flow.
I had to buy a big block of chocolate to make a brownie so i thought i would just literally run down the confectionery aisle, grab the chocolate and run back to her without her noticing all the lollies (Mistake #2). She followed me thinking we were having a running race and started grabbing at everything in sight, trying to open everything within her reach. I picked her up and carried her kicking and screaming to the end of the aisle where i put her back down.
I put her back down next to a HUGE rack of eggs (Mistake #3), she was by this stage throwing a major tantrum on the ground and she managed to grab the side of the rack of eggs, the rack started wobbling - I grabbed it just in time to prevent a major disaster, although it would of made for a funny story!
We somehow made it to the checkout (no idea how) and she spots more chocolate bars which she started pulling off the shelves and trying to run out the door with. By this stage we had quite an audience as she had been running havoc throughout the entire store.
To top it off, we get out the doors and she spots and elderly man and runs at him full pace with her arms out and face covered in tears, he picks her up and gives her a cuddle and tells her that sometimes mums don't have extra money to buy sweets, he carried her to my car and as soon as I hopped in, I burst into tears, what a nightmare!!!!!! I started doing the groceries in the evening by myself after that haha.
Whats the most embarrassing tantrum your little one has thrown?
